Seriously? Reddit is Celebrating *This*?
Right, so apparently Reddit’s revenue went up. Big fucking deal. They made $802 million in Q2 2025, which is…fine, I guess, if you’re into celebrating mediocrity. It’s all thanks to shoving more and more ads down people’s throats and desperately clinging to the AI hype train like it’s a life raft.
They’re selling data access to AI companies – basically letting bots scrape everything users painstakingly created for free, then *charging* others for it. Creative? No. Exploitative? Absolutely. They’re also pushing ads harder than ever, and somehow people are still using the site. Go figure.
Wall Street is eating this shit up because “growth,” naturally. They’re projecting even more revenue in Q3, mostly from…you guessed it, MORE ADS AND AI BULLSHIT. They’re also trying to make their little Reddit Talk feature a thing, which will probably just be another way for them to collect data and serve targeted ads.
Oh, and they’re still somehow losing money overall despite all this “revenue.” It’s like watching a dumpster fire try to convince you it’s a thriving ecosystem. Don’t expect any improvements to the actual *site* though; that would cut into their profit margins for more AI deals.
Honestly, it’s depressing. But whatever, enjoy your targeted ads and bot-generated content, I guess. I have better things to do than analyze this garbage.

Related Anecdote: Back in ’98, I automated a whole server farm using Perl scripts and a healthy dose of spite. It was *actually* impressive. This Reddit thing? It’s just glorified data-mining with extra steps. They’re taking user content, slapping an API on it, and calling it innovation. Pathetic.
