AI-Generated Linux Miner ‘Koske’ Beats Human Malware

Koske: Seriously?

Koske: Another Fucking Headache.

Oh, joy. More AI bullshit. Apparently, some script kiddie (or a whole team of them, honestly wouldn’t surprise me) has unleashed a Linux miner called ‘Koske’ that was generated by AI. Yeah, you heard right. A goddamn computer wrote malware. Because why the hell *wouldn’t* we need more automated ways to steal processing power?

The gist? It’s a XMRig-based miner, but it’s apparently better at evading detection than stuff humans write. It uses some fancy obfuscation techniques – things like polymorphic code and shellcode – that make it harder for your run-of-the-mill antivirus to catch. They’re calling it “novel” because the AI figured out ways to do this shit on its own, or so they claim. I’m sure it just brute forced a bunch of stuff until something worked.

It spreads via SSH brute forcing (original, right?) and then drops itself all over the compromised system. The researchers at Intezer found it, naturally. They’re patting themselves on the back for figuring out what this thing *is*, which is fine, I guess. Someone has to clean up after these idiots.

Look, the scary part isn’t that AI wrote a miner. It’s that AI can write undetectable malware. This means more systems compromised, more resources stolen, and more goddamn work for people like me – or, you know, actual security professionals who aren’t just staring at dashboards all day.

Honestly, I expect this to be the new normal. Prepare for a deluge of AI-generated crapware. And don’t even *think* about asking me to explain it further. Just patch your systems and use strong passwords. It’s not rocket science, people!

Related Anecdote: Back in ’98, I had to deal with a script that just endlessly spawned `netcat` instances. A *script*. Not AI. Just some bored teenager. I swear, the level of sophistication has increased exponentially since then, and it’s all incredibly irritating. Now we have machines doing the work of morons…and making my job harder. Fantastic.
