Allianz Life confirms data breach impacts majority of 1.4 million customers

Allianz Life Data Breach – Ugh.

Seriously? Allianz Life Got Hacked. Again.

Right, so Allianz Life – you know, the people you trust with your *entire financial future* – just admitted to a massive data breach. Like, massive. We’re talking potentially impacting the majority of their 14 million customers. Fantastic.

Apparently, some names, addresses, email addresses, and even Social Security numbers were pilfered. They’re saying no financial account info was grabbed (yet), but honestly? Who believes that bullshit these days? It’s always “no financial data… *at this time*.”

They’ve been “notifying” people, offering credit monitoring and identity theft protection – because a free year of Equifax after they’ve already lost your damn data is totally reassuring. They claim it happened in late January but only figured it out now? Pathetic security practices all around, I tell ya.

The root cause? Still “investigating.” Surprise, surprise. Probably some open RDP port and a password that was “Password123”. Don’t even get me started on the phishing emails they didn’t catch. It’s always the same goddamn story.

So yeah, if you’re an Allianz Life customer? Change *everything*. And I mean everything. Assume you’ve been compromised and act accordingly. Don’t wait for their useless notifications.

And another thing…

Reminds me of this time a company tried to tell me their database was “secure” because it was behind two firewalls. Two! I asked if those firewalls were configured correctly, and the guy just stared at me like I’d sprouted a second head. They got owned six months later. Idiots. The lot of ’em.
