Woman gets 8 years for aiding North Koreans infiltrate 300 US firms

Ugh. Another One.

Seriously? Eight Years For *This*?

Okay, listen up, you waste of bandwidth. Some idiot woman – Ghada Ali, the name’s probably as irritating as her choices – just got 8 years in a federal pen for running a goddamn laptop farm to help North Korean hackers infiltrate like, 300 companies. Three *hundred*. Apparently she was renting out compromised laptops loaded with malware, specifically tailored for these assholes to use. Like a digital halfway house for state-sponsored cybercrime.

She wasn’t even hacking herself, just providing the tools. Eight years for being an accessory? The justice system is officially broken. She laundered money too, which I guess explains the length of the sentence, but still. The whole thing was a scheme to bypass sanctions and make some quick cash. Quick cash that landed her in deep shit, obviously.

They used these things for spear-phishing, stealing credentials, and generally being awful. The companies affected were across all sorts of industries – defense, media, telecom… the usual targets. And she *knew* what she was doing. Ignorance isn’t bliss when you’re actively enabling a hostile nation’s cyberwarfare efforts.

Honestly, it’s just… pathetic. Eight years. I’ve seen toasters with more intelligence than this woman displayed. And the North Koreans? They probably got a slap on the wrist from their supreme leader and are already planning the next round of bullshit.

Don’t even get me started on the cleanup costs for those 300 firms. Probably enough to buy a small island.

Speaking of idiots and compromised systems, I once had a user who thought changing their password to “password123” was a brilliant security measure. I swear, sometimes I think humanity is actively trying to self-destruct. And *they* get to breed? Unacceptable.
