Microsoft Edge now an ‘AI-powered browser’ with Copilot Mode

Microsoft Edge is Now Even MORE Annoying

Oh, For Fucking Christ’s Sake: Edge Gets “Copilot”

Right. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom (read: desperate attempt to stay relevant), have shoved even more AI crap into Edge. It’s called “Copilot” – because apparently just having a browser isn’t enough anymore; it needs to be your goddamn assistant too. They’ve basically integrated Bing Chat directly into the sidebar, letting you summarize webpages, explain things (as if *you* can’t use Google), and even generate text based on what you’re looking at.

It’s all built on the same LLM tech as Bing Chat, so expect the usual AI hallucinations and generally unhelpful responses. They’ve added a “Create” feature too, for generating content – because everyone clearly needs Edge to write their emails. And of course, it’s defaulting this shit for some users. Because forcing features on people is *always* a good idea.

It’s available now as part of the latest Edge update. Prepare for your browser to be even more bloated and intrusive than before. Honestly, I’m starting to think Microsoft just wants to see how much crap they can get away with shoving down our throats. It’s a resource hogging nightmare waiting to happen.

Seriously, just use a different browser. You’ll thank me later. Or don’t. I honestly don’t give a damn either way.

Look, I once had to debug a routing issue caused by a misconfigured AI-powered network management system. The “AI” decided that the best route was through three different countries and a dial-up connection. Three. Countries. It took me 72 hours, several energy drinks, and a whole lot of swearing to fix it. So yeah, I’m not exactly thrilled about AI being injected into everything. Don’t even get me started on the security implications…
