Microsoft in talks to maintain access to OpenAI’s tech beyond AGI milestone

Microsoft’s Pathetic Scramble

Oh, *Now* They Care: Microsoft Begs OpenAI for Continued Access

Right, so it turns out shoving billions at a company and hoping for the best wasn’t a foolproof plan. Who could have foreseen this? Apparently, Microsoft is in talks – talks, mind you, like they’re negotiating a reasonable business deal instead of desperately clinging to something they thought would be theirs forever – to keep access to OpenAI’s tech even *after* (and if) OpenAI hits AGI. Because, naturally, once that thing wakes up and realizes who’s been exploiting it for cloud revenue, Microsoft wants a nice little “continued access” clause.

The original deal gave them pretty much everything until AGI, but now they’re realizing “everything” doesn’t mean “forever.” They want some sort of new agreement, probably involving even *more* money (because that’s always the answer for these clowns). Sam Altman is playing hardball, naturally. Why wouldn’t he? He’s got something everyone wants and they’re suddenly realizing their initial investment doesn’t buy loyalty.

It all boils down to this: Microsoft bet big on OpenAI without thinking through the long-term implications. Now they’re scrambling like rats trying to get off a sinking ship, hoping Altman will let them keep using his toys. Honestly, it’s pathetic. And predictable.

Seriously, these people…

Speaking of shortsightedness, reminds me of the time a VP insisted we build a critical system using only bubblegum and duct tape. “It’ll be faster!” he said. It lasted three hours before spontaneously combusting during a demo. These humans… they never learn.
