AI Cuts vCISO Workload by 68% as Demand Skyrockets, New Report Finds

Ugh, Another AI “Revolution”

Seriously? AI is Doing *What* Now?

Right, listen up. Apparently, some report – because we NEED more reports – says that Artificial Intelligence is cutting the workload of Virtual Chief Information Security Officers (vCISOs) by a whopping 68%. Sixty-eight percent! Like they were actually doing anything useful in the first place besides sending endless emails and nodding sagely during meetings. Now a *machine* can do it? Fantastic.

Demand for these vCISOs is also “skyrocketing,” which means more people are paying someone to pretend to secure their shit while AI does… what, exactly? Automates basic tasks, apparently. Shocking. The report from Guidepost Solutions and Blackpoint Cyber claims this frees up the vCISOs to do “more strategic work.” Yeah, right. Probably spend more time golfing or finding new ways to upsell useless services.

The biggest areas AI is “helping” with are threat hunting, vulnerability management, and incident response – all things that should have been automated years ago but were held back by… well, people. And of course, everyone’s suddenly obsessed with AI-powered security tools because it’s the shiny new object. Don’t get me started on the “challenges” they mention: data quality, integration issues, and a lack of skilled personnel to *manage* the AI. It’s always something, isn’t it?

Honestly, this whole thing just screams “companies are panicking and throwing money at anything with ‘AI’ in the name.” It’ll end badly. Mark my words.

Anecdote: I once had to debug a script written by a “highly skilled” security engineer that was supposed to block malicious IPs. Turns out, it just blocked *all* IPs. ALL OF THEM. AI is probably going to do something equally idiotic on a much larger scale. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
