Seriously, Another One? FunkSec Ransomware Decryptor Released.
Oh joy. Another ransomware gang decided to take a nap, and now some bleeding heart security types have released a decryptor. FunkSec, apparently a relatively small-time operation targeting… well, who cares? They were encrypting files with a Go-based ransomware, using the usual pathetic tactics. Now that they’ve gone quiet – probably off spending their ill-gotten gains on something stupid – someone bothered to reverse engineer their crap and make a free tool.
The decryptor works against versions from February 2024 through May 2025, so if you were hit in that timeframe, maybe, *maybe* you’re not completely screwed. But don’t get your hopes up; backups are still the only reliable solution, you absolute amateurs. And yes, it requires running a PowerShell script – because of course it does. Like I haven’t got better things to do than babysit people who can’t keep their systems secure.
The usual advice applies: don’t download shady files, patch your damn software, and for the love of all that is holy, *back up your data*. This isn’t rocket science. It’s basic competence.
Honestly, I’m more annoyed this even *needed* to be written. The fact people are still falling for this garbage in 2025 is… infuriating.

Speaking of incompetence, I once had to remotely rebuild a server farm because some “sysadmin” thought it was a good idea to use their dog’s birthday as the password. A *dog’s birthday*. I swear, sometimes I think humanity is actively trying to prove me right about everything being awful.
