Oh, *Now* They Care About AI?
Right. So Apple, after spending the last decade apparently admiring their navels while everyone else built actual useful shit, has decided they’re going to throw a bunch of money at AI. Tim Cook, bless his heart (not really), announced they’re “significantly” increasing investment. What a shocker.
Apparently, they’re finally realizing that people want more than just slightly shinier rectangles. They’re talking about integrating AI into *everything* – Siri (good luck with that dumpster fire), Messages, and their operating systems. They’ve got some new silicon coming down the pipe, supposedly geared towards machine learning, but honestly? It’s probably too little, too late.
The whole thing reeks of desperation. They’re trying to play catch-up with Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI, and they think throwing cash at it will solve everything. Spoiler alert: it won’t. They’ll likely end up with a closed ecosystem full of features nobody asked for, running on overpriced hardware. And don’t even get me started on the privacy bullshit – “privacy-focused AI” is an oxymoron when you’re collecting all that data in the first place.
Basically, it’s Apple realizing they need to be relevant again and hoping AI will do the heavy lifting. I give them six months before they announce another “revolutionary” feature that’s just a slightly better version of something everyone else already has. Don’t hold your breath.

Related Anecdote (Because You People Need Context)
I once had to debug a system where someone tried to implement “AI” by just randomly assigning weights to inputs. It was less intelligent than a toaster oven, and caused more problems than it solved. This Apple thing feels…familiar. Seriously, I’ve seen better algorithms written in BASIC on a Commodore 64.
