Oh, *Great*. Another AI.
Right, so Google’s decided they need another Gemini variant, this time called “Deep Think.” Apparently, regular Gemini wasn’t smart enough, so now it tries a bunch of different approaches to problems simultaneously before giving you an answer. Like a toddler throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. They’re calling it “multi-path reasoning” which is just marketing bullshit for ‘we don’t know how to make it consistently correct’.
It’s supposed to be better at complex stuff – coding, math, logic puzzles… things humans are already pretty good at, and frankly, do faster. They claim it reduces “hallucinations” (read: blatant lies) by having the AI internally argue with itself before spewing nonsense at you. Fantastic. More internal monologue from a silicon brain. Just what we needed.
They’re rolling it out to Vertex AI customers first, because *of course*. Gotta let the paying suckers test it before unleashing this on the general public. And naturally, they’ve got benchmarks showing how amazing it is compared to other models. Benchmarks are always trustworthy, right? Especially when Google makes them up.
The whole thing feels like a desperate attempt to catch up with OpenAI and Anthropic. Honestly, just leave well enough alone for five minutes, you overgrown search engine. It’s not going to fix the fundamental problem: these things are still glorified pattern-matchers that occasionally stumble into something resembling intelligence.
And don’t even get me started on the energy consumption of running this thing. Seriously, we’re frying the planet for slightly less dumb AI responses? Wonderful.

Speaking of “hallucinations,” I once had a sysadmin try to convince me that the server room was haunted because the cooling fans were making “unusual noises.” He’d spent three hours trying to debug it with an EMF reader and sage. Turns out, someone had left a bag of Cheetos near the intake vent. People are idiots. And now Google’s building AI based on their idiocy. Go figure.
