Apple might be building its own AI ‘answer engine’

Apple’s Pathetic Attempt at AI – A Summary (Because Apparently They Can’t)

Oh, *Now* Apple Wants to Do AI?

Right. So, after letting Google and OpenAI run roughshod over the entire goddamn landscape, Apple’s decided it wants a piece of the AI pie. Shocking. The article basically says they’re building some internal “answer engine” – surprise, surprise – codenamed “Braeburn.” It’s supposed to be integrated into iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, offering… wait for it… *summaries* and answering questions. Like anyone hasn’t already figured out how to do that.

They’re apparently using a large language model (LLM) trained on Apple data, which means it will probably be really good at telling you about the nuances of different iPhone colors and utterly useless for anything remotely complex. And they want to keep everything “on-device” as much as possible because privacy or some bullshit. Which translates to: “We’re late to the party so we’re trying to spin this as a feature, not an admission of incompetence.”

The whole thing is being tested internally and they are hoping it will be better than Google Gemini and ChatGPT. Yeah, good luck with that, you fruit-flavored fools. They’ve got a long way to go if they want to catch up, and honestly, I doubt they will. Expect polished mediocrity at best.

Speaking of useless tech projects, back in ’98, I had a user who insisted on building his own email server using nothing but Perl scripts and a dial-up modem. Took him three weeks to send *one* goddamn message. Three weeks! And it crashed every five minutes. Apple’s gonna be right there with him, mark my words.
