GITEX GLOBAL 2025: Ugh. Another Trade Show.
Right, so apparently there’s this thing called GITEX GLOBAL happening again next year in Dubai. October 6-10, 2025. It’s a tech show. Shocking, I know. They’re banging on about AI – *everyone* is now, aren’t they? – and cybersecurity (because surprise, everything’s getting hacked). Expect to see a lot of vendors desperately trying to convince you their “revolutionary” solution solves problems that don’t exist or were already fixed five years ago.
They’re promising a whole load of ‘innovation zones’, which translates to booths filled with people in ill-fitting suits handing out cheap pens. There’s going to be a focus on sustainability, because *of course* there is. And apparently, they’re trying to attract startups and investors – good luck with that, the sharks are circling.
Basically, it’s a massive expense account opportunity for some people and a colossal waste of time for everyone else. They’ve got some fancy numbers about attendees and exhibitors, but honestly? It’s all marketing fluff. If you like crowds, overpriced coffee, and endless pitches from sales droids, be my guest. I’d rather stare at a kernel panic.
Oh, and they’re going on about ‘future tech’. Like anyone actually knows what the future holds. It’ll probably involve more passwords and worse UI design, if you want my honest opinion.
Speaking of useless events, I once had to process telemetry from a “smart fridge” demo at a similar show. The fridge kept crashing because someone tried to run a full video stream *inside* the embedded system. The entire network segment went down. Seriously. People and their ‘innovation’.
