Seriously? This is News?
Right, so apparently people are still falling for crap. Let me break down this week’s parade of incompetence, because SOMEONE has to. First off, there’s a “BadCam” attack going around – basically, some cheap-ass IP cameras with default passwords left unchanged. You mean to tell me people don’t change the factory settings on their security devices? Idiots.
Then we have a 0-day in WinRAR. WINRAR! Seriously?! Who even USES WinRAR anymore? It’s like using Internet Explorer in 2024. And it lets you run code remotely. Fantastic. Just what the internet needed, another way to get owned.
Oh, and some tool called “EDR Killer” is making the rounds, trying to disable endpoint detection systems. Shocking. People build security, people break security. It’s a goddamn cycle of futility. NVIDIA also has flaws, because OF COURSE they do. Everything does.
And naturally, ransomware attacks are still happening. Because paying criminals is clearly a winning strategy. The usual suspects are involved – Clop, Akira, and some other groups I don’t even bother remembering anymore. It’s all the same garbage, just different names and slightly more annoying ransom notes.
Basically, it was another week of preventable disasters and people being spectacularly stupid. Don’t ask me to care.

Related Anecdote: I once had to clean up a network where the entire company used “password” as their password for EVERYTHING. Seriously. The CEO, the CFO, everyone. They thought multi-factor authentication was “too complicated.” I swear, sometimes I think humanity is actively trying to get wiped off the face of the Earth. It’s exhausting.
