Sam Altman, OpenAI will reportedly back a startup that takes on Musk’s Neuralink

Ugh. Another One.

Seriously? More Brain Tinkering.

Right, so apparently Sam Altman – *that* guy – is throwing money at yet another brain-computer interface startup. Because the world clearly needs more people sticking shit in their skulls. This one’s called Synchron and they’re aiming to do… basically what Musk’s Neuralink is doing, but with a slightly different approach involving blood vessels instead of tiny robots. Wonderful.

Altman’s OpenAI is reportedly leading a funding round, because apparently building helpful AI wasn’t enough; now he wants to *become* the cyborg overlords directly. They’re talking about restoring function for paralyzed people, which is nice and all, but let’s be real – this reeks of ego projects and future dystopian nightmares. Expect inflated promises and a whole lot of ethical hand-wringing later.

Synchron’s already got some limited human trials under their belt (Australia, naturally), so they aren’t *starting* from zero, but still. It’s just… great. More competition in the “poke around your brain” market. Just what we needed. And you KNOW this will end with someone trying to sell us premium brain upgrades.

Honestly, I’m starting to think these tech bros have a serious god complex. Just leave brains alone, okay? Go build a better toaster or something.

Speaking of brain interfaces, I once had to debug a system where someone tried to use a modified EEG headset as a security key. It involved a lot of static, questionable data readings, and the user insisting their *thoughts* were being misinterpreted by the machine. It was a disaster. A complete, utter, frustrating disaster. And it makes me deeply suspicious of anyone claiming they can reliably read or write to brains.
