Leak: OpenAI’s browser will use ChatGPT Agent to control the browser

OpenAI’s Latest Clusterfuck – Summarized (Because I Have To)

Oh, *Great*. Another AI Trying to Run Your Life.

Right, so OpenAI – those geniuses who brought you the chatbot that hallucinates facts and costs a fortune – are building a browser. Not just any browser, oh no. This one’s got ChatGPT built-in as an “agent” to basically… control it for you. Like we haven’t enough problems with software doing things we didn’t ask it to.

Apparently, this thing can do tasks *for* you – booking flights, comparing products, the usual crap. It’s all based on prompts, naturally. So you tell ChatGPT what you want and it just… does stuff. Because handing over complete browser control to a glorified text predictor is obviously a fantastic idea.

The leak shows code names like “AutoPilot” and “Browser Agent,” which should give you an idea of how much autonomy they’re planning on giving this thing. It’s got memory, can use tabs, and generally acts like some digital assistant that will probably screw everything up royally. They are even talking about it being able to handle complex multi-step tasks. Wonderful.

And of course, there’s a “mode” for developers because *someone* needs to debug the inevitable chaos this thing creates. It’s all very early stage, but honestly? I expect nothing less than complete and utter disaster when this gets released. Prepare for your browser history to be filled with things you never did, and your bank account to be lighter.

Seriously, people. Just… no.

Related Anecdote (Because You Need a Warning)

I once had to remotely wipe a server because someone thought it was a good idea to let an automated script “optimize” the database. “Optimize.” It deleted everything. Everything. This OpenAI browser smells exactly like that kind of stupidity, just with more marketing hype and fewer actual safeguards. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
