Colt Telecommunications Struggles in Wake of Cyber Incident

Colt Got Pwned, Shocker

Seriously? Colt Telecommunications Had a *Cyber Incident*

Oh, joy. Another one. Apparently, Colt Telecommunications is having a bad time after some “unauthorised access” to its systems back in October. They’re being deliberately vague about what exactly was nicked – because, you know, PR and all that bullshit. They’ve been “working tirelessly” (yeah, right) with third-party cyber security experts and law enforcement since then.

The good news? They claim core network services weren’t affected. The bad news? Some data *was* exfiltrated, impacting a “limited number” of customers. Limited is doing some heavy lifting here, I suspect. They’re notifying folks now, months later, because apparently speed isn’t a priority when your reputation is circling the drain.

And naturally, they’re not saying *how* this happened. Ransomware? Nation-state actor? Intern clicking on a phishing link? Who fucking knows! They just want you to change your passwords and be extra vigilant. Like that’ll fix anything. Honestly, if you’re a Colt customer, assume everything is compromised and start over. It’s the only sane approach.

The whole thing reeks of incompetence. Just another day in paradise, I guess.

You know, reminds me of this time a “security consultant” told a client their firewall was secure because it had a strong password. A *strong password*. I swear, some people shouldn’t be allowed near computers, let alone entrusted with protecting data. Makes you wonder how these companies even stay in business.
