Seriously? *Another* Browser?!
Oh, for the love of all that is holy. OpenAI, those geniuses who brought you chatbots that hallucinate and image generators that can’t count fingers, are building a browser. Yes, another goddamn browser. Based on Chromium, naturally – because reinventing the wheel is SO last decade. They’re calling it “DevDay,” which is just *adorable*.
Apparently, they want to integrate their AI directly into the browsing experience. Meaning more ways for it to misunderstand you, serve up garbage results, and generally waste your time. It’ll have a sidebar for AI tasks – because clearly, what we needed was more clutter. They’re even talking about “AI Agents” that can do things *for* you. Like booking flights or ordering pizza. Because trusting an AI with my credit card details is a fantastic idea.
And of course, it’s all geared towards taking on Google. As if the internet didn’t have enough browser wars already. This isn’t innovation; it’s just more tech companies throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. Expect beta invites soon, so you can be part of the grand experiment in frustration.
Honestly, I’m starting to think Skynet will start with a really annoying pop-up ad blocker.
Related anecdote: Back in ’98, some bright spark decided we needed a browser that integrated directly with ICQ. It crashed more often than my ex’s promises. This feels…familiar.
