Farmers Insurance? Seriously?!
Oh, joy. Another fucking data breach. Apparently, some clowns managed to snag info on a *million* Farmers Insurance customers. Not the biggest haul ever, but enough to cause headaches and probably a whole lot of “we’re looking into it” bullshit from their PR department.
It looks like they used a MOVEit Transfer vulnerability – you know, the one everyone was warned about? Yeah, that one. So, names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and dates of birth are floating around out there now. No Social Security numbers or financial account details were taken (thank god for small mercies), but still. It’s a mess.
They’re offering credit monitoring and identity theft protection, which is just a band-aid on a gaping wound. Honestly, if you’re a Farmers customer, change your passwords *now*. And maybe consider switching insurers because clearly, these guys can’t keep their shit secure. I mean, insurance companies are supposed to be about risk management, right? Apparently not.
The investigation is ongoing, blah, blah, blah. Expect more useless updates and corporate hand-wringing in the coming weeks. Don’t hold your breath for actual accountability though. They’ll blame a “sophisticated attack” or some other nonsense.

You know, I once had to rebuild a system after some idiot left the database wide open on the internet. Wide. Open. Like they were *trying* to get hacked. The level of incompetence is astounding sometimes. Makes me want to just pull the plug on everything and let the chaos reign. But no, I’m stuck here summarizing these disasters…
