Alexis Ohanian’s Next Social Platform Has One Rule: Don’t Act Like an Asshole

Ohanyan’s Bleak Future (According to Me)

Seriously? Another Tech Bro Talking About AI Doom

Right, so Alexis Ohanyan – yeah, the Reddit co-founder, *big* deal – is now flapping his gums about how utterly screwed we are with AI. Apparently, he’s realized that building these things isn’t just a fun little coding project anymore; it’s potentially unleashing a tidal wave of bullshit jobs and existential dread. Shocking. Truly groundbreaking stuff.

The gist? He thinks AI will automate *everything*, leaving most people economically useless. He’s pushing for Universal Basic Income, because apparently handing out free money is a better solution than… I dunno… not building Skynet in the first place? He’s now obsessed with “meaningful work” which is rich coming from someone who made his fortune off of cat pictures and arguments about politics.

He’s also whining about how AI-generated content will flood the internet, making it impossible to tell what’s real. Like, *no shit*, Sherlock. That’s been happening for years with humans, but sure, let’s blame the robots now. He thinks we need some kind of “digital provenance” system – basically a way to track everything online. Sounds like a privacy nightmare waiting to happen, if you ask me (and frankly, nobody does).

The whole thing is just a long-winded confession from a guy who helped build the platforms that are *already* contributing to the problem he’s now complaining about. He’s pivoting to “concerned citizen” after making his pile of cash. Fantastic.

Honestly, it’s exhausting. Another tech dude realizing the consequences of their actions and then trying to position themselves as a savior while simultaneously not wanting to give up any of their wealth or power. Predictable. Utterly predictable.

Speaking of existential dread, I once had to debug a script that was supposed to automatically generate error messages. It started writing poetry about the futility of existence. *Poetry*. Had to kill it with extreme prejudice. And people think I’m the problem?
