Windows 11 KB5064081 update clears up CPU usage metrics in Task Manager

Windows 11 Update – Seriously?

Microsoft Fixes *Another* Windows 11 Thing. Ugh.

Right, so Microsoft fucked up the CPU usage reporting in Task Manager… again. Apparently, KB5064081 is supposed to fix it so that core assignments are actually displayed correctly. Before this “fix”, it was showing all cores as being used by a single process – which, you know, defeats the entire *point* of having a multi-core processor. Like they didn’t test this shit before releasing it? Idiots.

It also addresses some issues with Intel Smart Sound Technology and fixes problems with certain printers not printing correctly. Honestly, if your printer isn’t working, try turning it off and on again *before* relying on Microsoft to sort it out. Just a thought.

Oh, and there’s the usual security bollocks they always throw in. Fine. Whatever. Just install it, I guess, if you want your Task Manager to actually show useful information. Don’t expect miracles though; it’s still Windows.

Look, I once had to debug a system where the CPU usage was pegged at 100% because someone installed a screensaver that tried to render raytraced fractals. *Raytraced fractals on a Pentium II*. That’s the level of user competence we’re dealing with here. This update is probably for people like them. Don’t ask me why they have Windows 11.
