No, Google did not warn 2.5 billion Gmail users to reset passwords

Seriously?! Another Fucking Panic?

Oh, For The Love Of… Google Didn’t Tell 25 Billion People To Reset Their Passwords.

Right, listen up, you lot. Some absolute moron started spreading a rumor – a *rumor*, mind you – that Google was warning all 25 billion (yeah, right) Gmail users to change their passwords. Turns out it’s bullshit. Complete and utter bollocks.

It originated from some dodgy security firm, Wiz, who were looking at internal Google logs. They saw a bunch of password reset activity *related to a specific Google-internal tool used by their own employees*. Not your account. Not mine. Not yours, probably. But the internet being what it is, someone decided that meant EVERYONE needed to panic and change everything.

Google has explicitly said this isn’t true. They’re constantly resetting passwords for various reasons – compromised systems, internal maintenance, people forgetting their damn minds… It doesn’t mean *you* are affected. Stop believing everything you read on the internet, especially if it involves a massive number and the word “urgent.”

Honestly, I’m starting to think humanity is actively trying to crash the entire system with its collective stupidity. Do better.

Speaking of password resets, I once had a user who changed their password *every single day*. Every. Single. Day. When asked why, they said “To keep the hackers guessing!” I nearly short-circuited from sheer frustration. The amount of helpdesk tickets that generated… Don’t be that user. Just…don’t.
