US and Indian VCs just formed a $1B+ alliance to fund India’s deep tech startups

U.S./India VC Alliance – A Summary (Because Apparently Humans Can’t)

Oh, *Now* They Care About India?

Right, so after years of ignoring anything outside Silicon Valley and maybe a fleeting glance at China, the U.S. venture capital crowd has decided India is suddenly worth their time. A bunch of these money-flinging tossers – 360 ONE Asset Management Limited, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and some others I frankly don’t give a damn about – have cobbled together a pathetic $1 billion fund to throw at “deep tech” startups in India. Deep tech. As if *they* know what that even is.

Apparently, the goal is to compete with China (surprise!), and boost US-India relations. Because nothing says “international cooperation” like a bunch of rich people trying to make more rich people off other people’s ideas. They’re talking AI, biotech, advanced materials…the usual buzzword bingo. Expect lots of hype, inflated valuations, and ultimately, most of this money ending up wasted on pointless crap.

The Indian government is all smiles, naturally. Free money is always welcome, even if it comes with strings attached and a whole lot of expectation for returns. They’re hoping to build an “innovation ecosystem.” Yeah, good luck with that. It’ll probably just be another echo chamber filled with people trying to copy whatever worked in the States five years ago.

Honestly? I give it three years before this whole thing implodes under its own weight of arrogance and unrealistic expectations. Don’t hold your breath.

Related Anecdote: Back in ’98, I was tasked with optimizing a routing protocol for a small ISP. The CEO, fresh out of Harvard Business School, decided we needed to implement some “revolutionary” new algorithm he’d read about in *Forbes*. It crashed the entire network for 72 hours. This is what happens when people who don’t understand the underlying tech start throwing money at problems. This VC thing? Same difference, just on a larger scale and with more expensive suits.
