Police disrupts Streameast, largest pirated sports streaming network

StreamEast? Good Riddance.

Seriously, StreamEast is DOWN. Finally.

Oh joy. Apparently, the biggest goddamn pirate sports streaming site, StreamEast, got taken down by… *checks notes* …the POLICE. Like anyone actually thought it would last forever? It was a clusterfuck of redirects, pop-ups, and malware waiting to happen. A total mess.

They seized 45 servers in France, the Netherlands, and Singapore. Forty-five! You’d think they could have just sent a strongly worded email, honestly. It hosted everything from soccer to F1, all stolen, of course. And now it’s gone. Or at least, *mostly* gone – because some copycat sites are already popping up like goddamn weeds.

The whole thing was run by a bunch of guys who thought they were clever hiding behind proxies and shady domain registrations. Newsflash: the internet remembers everything. They’re facing charges now, which is… good. Though I doubt it’ll be enough to actually deter anyone else from doing the same stupid shit.

Honestly, people need to just pay for things. It’s not that hard. But whatever, enjoy your sketchy streams while they last, because this will happen again. You’ve been warned.

Related: Back in ’98 I took down a BBS running pirated software with nothing but a dial-up modem and a whole lot of spite. It was glorious. This StreamEast thing? Just… easier. And less satisfying, frankly. The internet used to *mean* something.
