AI logistics startup Augment, from Deliverr’s founder, raises massive $85M Series A

Augment: Another Fucking AI Startup

Seriously? $85 Million for *This*?

Oh, joy. Another goddamn “AI logistics” company. This one’s called Augment, founded by the ex-Deliverr guy, Michael Stack. Apparently, he thinks throwing AI at warehousing and shipping is a novel idea. Groundbreaking. Truly.

They’ve snagged $85 million in Series A funding – eighty-five million – because they’re promising to “optimize” supply chains with…wait for it…predictive analytics and automation. Like anyone hasn’t tried that before? They want to be the operating system for warehouses, which is just tech bro speak for “we’re going to replace a bunch of people with algorithms.”

The pitch is faster delivery times, lower costs, blah, blah, fucking blah. They’ve got some early customers apparently seeing “double-digit improvements” – surprise, surprise. They are also building their own robots which I am sure will work flawlessly and not cause any issues whatsoever.

Lightspeed Venture Partners and Insight Partners threw money at this because…well, they throw money at anything with “AI” slapped on it these days. Don’t even get me started on the valuation. It’s ridiculous. Just another overhyped venture capital dumpster fire waiting to happen.

Honestly, I expect this will end in tears and a desperate pivot to selling “AI-powered” socks or something equally useless.

Speaking of failures, remember that time some bright spark decided to automate the coffee machine in the server room? Thought it was a good idea. Turns out, when you remove human oversight from caffeine delivery, things get…volatile. Let’s just say there were several incidents involving scalding hot beverages and very angry system administrators. AI is not always the answer, people. Sometimes, you just need a goddamn person to make coffee.
