Microsoft Exchange Online: Another Fucking Outage
Oh joy. Microsoft’s Exchange Online service decided to take a dump in North America again. Apparently, users are getting connection errors and can’t access their goddamn email. Like, seriously? It started around 10:30 AM ET and lasted for *hours*. They’re “investigating” – which is corporate-speak for “we have no fucking clue what broke this time.”
They claim it wasn’t a widespread thing, but come on. If enough people can’t use email, it is widespread. The service dashboard was showing errors, and naturally, everyone panicked. They finally said they rolled back some changes which fixed the issue… eventually.
So yeah, another day, another Microsoft clusterfuck. Don’t hold your breath waiting for a real explanation. Just expect more of this bullshit.

Speaking of outages, I once had to babysit a legacy Exchange server running on Windows Server 2003. The thing was held together with duct tape and prayers. One day it just… died. Completely. No warning. The sysadmin before me hadn’t bothered with backups. *Backups*. Can you believe that shit? I spent three days rebuilding the entire damn thing from memory, and let me tell you, nobody appreciates a good disaster recovery plan until their email is gone. Microsoft’s probably running on something equally stable, judging by this constant stream of failures.
