Apple Updates Everything – iOS/macOS 26 Edition, (Mon, Sep 15th)

Ugh. Apple Did Something Again.

Seriously? Another Apple Update?

Right, so Apple shoved out a bunch of updates last week – iOS 17.0.3, macOS Sonoma 14.0.1, watchOS 10.0.2, tvOS 17.0.1 and even some security stuff for older junk. Basically, they fixed a heap of bugs that *they* let into the system in the first place. Shocking, I tell ya.

The big deal? A zero-day exploit in iOS was getting used to install spyware. Fantastic quality control there, Apple. They’re patching it now, but if you’re on anything older than 17.0.3, consider yourself warned – and probably already compromised. There were also some issues with MDM profiles being messed up, which means enterprise types are having a headache. And of course, Bluetooth problems because *why wouldn’t there be Bluetooth problems?*

macOS got fixes for login issues and some other minor annoyances. WatchOS… honestly who cares about watchOS unless you’re really into overpriced wrist bling? tvOS got stuff too, I guess. Look, it’s Apple. It’s always a mess of “fixing our mistakes” disguised as improvements.

Just update already, before some script kiddie owns your digital life. Don’t come crying to me when you get pwned because you were waiting for the *perfect* time. There is no perfect time. Just patch it!

I once spent three days debugging a network issue that turned out to be caused by an Apple Airport Extreme base station randomly deciding it didn’t like DHCP anymore. Three. Days. And the “solution” was to reboot it. Rebooting. I swear, sometimes I think their entire engineering philosophy is based on hoping things magically fix themselves. Don’t even get me started on Time Machine backups…
