FileFix Attack: Seriously? More Bullshit.
Oh, joy. Another fucking malware campaign. This one’s called “FileFix” – original name, right? Like anyone actually *fixes* files by sending them shady executables. What a load of crap.
Basically, some clowns are distributing malicious documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, the usual suspects) that look like legitimate file repair tools. But instead of fixing your damn files, they’re hiding Stealc malware inside using steganography – embedding it in images. Steganography! Like we don’t have enough problems already.
When you open these documents and enable macros (which you SHOULDN’T EVER DO unless you *know* what you’re doing, you absolute muppets), the malware gets downloaded and installed. Stealc then goes about stealing your browser cookies, passwords, credit card info, crypto wallets…the whole shebang. It’s a full-on information harvesting operation.
They’re using compromised SEO to get these things ranking in search results, so people actually *find* this garbage. And of course, it targets Windows users because why bother with anything else? It’s all very predictable and irritating.
The researchers say they’ve seen a lot of activity since mid-November. So yeah, be careful what you download, don’t enable macros unless you are 100% sure it is safe, and for the love of all that is holy, use an antivirus program. Or just assume everything on the internet wants to ruin your life – that’s usually a safer bet.

I once had a user who downloaded a screensaver that promised “dancing hamsters.” Dancing hamsters, people! It turned out to be a rootkit. A rootkit for dancing hamsters. I swear, some days I think humanity is actively trying to get wiped off the face of the Earth. And then they blame *me* when their system gets compromised.
