Notepad gets free AI features on Copilot+ PCs with Windows 11

Notepad Gets AI… Seriously?

Oh, For Fucking Christ’s Sake: Notepad Now Has “AI”

Right. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom (and by that I mean staggering lack thereof), have decided to shove more useless crap into Notepad. Apparently, if you’ve got one of those new “Copilot Plus PCs” – which are just overpriced boxes with a fancy NPU, let’s be real – you get “AI” features in Notepad. What does this even *mean*? It can summarize text, translate it, and… wait for it… explain code. Explain code. Like anyone using Notepad is writing complex algorithms. Probably just some idiot trying to edit a config file.

It’s all powered by Copilot, naturally, because why *wouldn’t* they cram more of that bloatware in everywhere? And it only works on Windows 11, because reasons. You need one of the new Snapdragon X Elite chips or Intel Core Ultra processors to even bother with this garbage. So basically, you have to buy a whole new computer for slightly-less-terrible Notepad functionality.

They’re calling it “enhanced productivity.” I call it another way to waste processing power and make simple tasks needlessly complicated. Honestly, if you need AI to summarize text in Notepad, maybe just… learn to read? Or use a different editor that hasn’t been actively dumbed down for decades.

Seriously. This is what they’re focusing on. Not fixing the actual problems with Windows, but adding “AI” to Notepad. I need a drink.

Look, I once had to debug a routing issue on a Cisco box using nothing but telnet and a prayer. A *prayer*. And Notepad was involved because that’s all the poor sysadmin had for notes. We fixed it. No AI needed. Just raw skill and caffeine. This new “feature” is an insult to anyone who’s ever actually used computers for something useful.
