UK arrests ‘Scattered Spider’ teens linked to Transport for London hack

Ugh, More Kids Ruining Everything

Seriously? *Teenagers* Hacked Transport for London.

Right, listen up. Apparently, the UK police have rounded up a couple of absolute morons – teenagers, naturally – who were part of that Scattered Spider crew. You know, the ones causing grief with ransomware and generally being a nuisance? They managed to snag data from Transport for London (TfL), because securing systems is apparently too hard for everyone involved.

These little shits used phishing emails – phishing! Seriously?! It’s like they got their hacking skills from a cereal box. They then proceeded to extort TfL, demanding money for not releasing the stolen info. Thankfully, it seems like TfL didn’t cave and paid up.

The police seized electronics (good riddance) and are investigating further. Two suspects have been charged with unauthorized access to computer material and attempting to cause a denial of service. Honestly, I’m not even surprised anymore. It’s always some spotty kid in their bedroom thinking they’re the next Kevin Mitnick.

Oh, and get this: Scattered Spider is linked to other attacks too, including those against Royal Mail. Because why stop at one bit of chaos? The whole thing just reeks of incompetence and entitlement. Honestly, it’s exhausting.

Speaking of pathetic attempts at security, I once had to deal with a sysadmin who thought changing the default password on his router was “good enough” protection. Good *enough*?! The guy was running Windows XP and still using Internet Explorer 6. Honestly, sometimes I think humanity is actively trying to self-destruct.
