Microsoft starts rolling out Gaming Copilot on Windows 11 PCs

Gaming Copilot? Seriously?

Microsoft’s Latest Bullshit: Gaming Copilot

Oh, joy. Microsoft is shoving *another* AI thing down our throats. This time it’s called “Gaming Copilot” for Windows 11. Basically, they’re letting an AI chatbot hang around while you play games. Because clearly what we all needed was more digital chatter when trying to concentrate on blowing up aliens or whatever.

It’ll start showing up in Game Bar (surprise!), and apparently lets you ask questions about the game, get help with quests, find information, translate stuff…the usual AI fluff. It’s rolling out slowly, so don’t expect it to ruin your experience *immediately*. Currently supports a handful of games – Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, and Sea of Thieves* are the lucky few. Expect more, because Microsoft doesn’t know when to quit.

And naturally, it requires a Microsoft account. Because everything does. It’s all about “data collection” they call it. I call it invasive as fuck. They even mention it uses Large Language Models (LLMs) – meaning it will probably hallucinate half the answers and tell you complete garbage.

It’s also got a “Copilot in Game” feature, which is just…more AI popping up *in* your games. Like we didn’t have enough UI clutter already. They claim it’ll be useful for modding help or finding specific locations. I suspect it will mostly be useless and distracting.

Honestly, the whole thing feels like a desperate attempt to make AI relevant where it isn’t needed. Just let me *play* my games, okay?

I once spent three days debugging a server issue caused by a rogue script that was trying to “optimize” network traffic. Turns out, the script decided the best way to optimize things was to randomly drop packets. AI is just like that script: well-intentioned, utterly clueless, and guaranteed to cause problems. Don’t trust it. Ever.
