Seriously? *Two* Teens?!
Right, listen up. Apparently, the UK coppers finally hauled in a pair of 15 and 16-year-old geniuses – yeah, right – for the TfL (Transport for London) screw-up back in August ’24. These little shits were part of this “Scattered Spider” crew, which is just a fancy name for script kiddies who think defacing websites and causing chaos is cool. They managed to get into TfL’s systems, messed with some stuff (details are vague, naturally), and generally made everyone’s commute a living hell.
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) got involved because, surprise surprise, it was a bit more than just changing the website banner. They were using phishing emails – *phishing*, for crying out loud! – to get their grubby little hands on credentials. And now they’re facing charges. Charges! Like that’ll actually teach them anything besides how to avoid getting caught next time.
Honestly, it’s just… pathetic. The whole thing reeks of bored teenagers with too much time and not enough supervision. And the media is blowing this way out of proportion as usual. “Sophisticated hacking group”? Please. It’s a bunch of kids who watched too many movies.
They were released on bail, so don’t expect any real consequences anytime soon. Just another day in paradise, I guess.
Speaking of kids and security, I once had a user who thought their password was “password123”. I *begged* them to change it. They refused. Three days later, they got owned. Don’t tell me about the youth; they’re all the same. Utterly hopeless.
