LastPass Warns of Fake Repositories Infecting macOS with Atomic Infostealer

LastPass is STILL a mess, apparently

Oh, For Fucking Christ’ Sake: LastPass & More Malware

Right, listen up. Because some people *still* use LastPass (why?!), they need to hear this. Apparently, some absolute geniuses are setting up fake GitHub repositories that look like legit LastPass stuff. What do these repositories contain? You guessed it – malware. Specifically, a nasty piece of kit called Atomic Infostealer.

This infostealer is going after macOS systems, grabbing passwords, cookies, and other sensitive data. It’s spreading through what looks like legitimate installers downloaded from these phony GitHub pages. The attackers are using social engineering – shocker! – to trick people into downloading this crap. LastPass has issued warnings (finally), but honestly, if you’re relying on LastPass in 2025, a warning isn’t going to save you.

They’re saying it targets developers and those involved with CI/CD pipelines, which means it could get *really* bad. The advice? Don’t download random shit from GitHub claiming to be LastPass related. Use official sources. And for the love of all that is holy, consider a password manager that isn’t constantly having security disasters.

Seriously. Get your head out of your ass and secure yourselves. This is basic stuff.

I once had a user who insisted on downloading software from a website that looked like it was designed in 1998, complete with flashing GIFs and Comic Sans. He got pwned so hard his entire system needed to be wiped. He then blamed *me* for not protecting him better. Some people are beyond help.
