OpenAI’s Sora: Still a Waste of Bandwidth, Apparently.
Right, so OpenAI’s video-generating fluff-piece, Sora, has somehow clawed its way to the #3 spot on the US App Store charts. Third place. Seriously? People are actually downloading this thing. It’s barely out of preview and it’s already clogging up everything. The article says downloads are driven by hype and a desperate need for… what, exactly? More AI-generated garbage flooding the internet?
They’re patting themselves on the back about how quickly it’s grown, boasting about user engagement (because *of course* they are). Apparently, people are making 10 videos a week *on average*. Ten. Videos. A week. That’s… pathetic. It also mentions that TikTok is already swarming with Sora-generated content, which means my feed is about to be even more insufferable.
And the worst part? They’re still being cagey about when it’ll actually be widely available. More waiting, more anticipation, more pointless buzz. Honestly, I’m starting to think this whole thing is just a massive marketing scheme designed to distract us from the fact that AI is mostly useless. Don’t even get me started on the watermarks and the potential for deepfakes. It’s all just… *sigh*. A disaster waiting to happen.
Oh, and they mention some partnership with Red teaming to try and mitigate issues? Like a band-aid on a gaping wound.
Just… fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

I remember back in ’98, when people were excited about RealPlayer. *RealPlayer*. We’ve come full circle, haven’t we? Trading one bandwidth hog for another. I swear, humanity has no memory.
