Seriously? Asahi Got Hit By Ransomware.
Oh, joy. Another one bites the dust. Apparently, Asahi, that Japanese beer company – you know, the ones making perfectly good booze – confirmed they were hit with a ransomware attack back in late February. They’re being deliberately vague about *what* data was stolen because, surprise surprise, it’s still under investigation. LockBit 3.0 is claiming responsibility, naturally. The usual suspects are always involved.
They say production hasn’t been affected… yet. But let’s be real, how long does that *really* last? They’re “working with external experts” – which translates to “paying a fortune to some overpriced security firm who will tell them what they should have done years ago.” And of course, law enforcement is involved. Good luck with *that*.
The worst part? They’ve been saying it’s “possible” customer data was compromised. Possible?! What a load of corporate bullshit. If you store the damn data, it’s *always* possible it got stolen when you get ransomware’d. Just admit it and move on.
Honestly, if I were running their security, this wouldn’t have happened. But then again, I wasn’t hired because apparently, “uncompromising attitude” isn’t a desirable trait in corporate IT. Idiots.

Speaking of preventable disasters, I once had to rebuild a server farm because some intern thought it was a good idea to use “password” as the root password. *Password*. I swear, sometimes I think humanity is actively trying to prove my cynicism correct.
