Oh, Great. Another App I Have to Deal With.
Right, so OpenAI’s Sora – that video-generating bullshit machine – is now number one on the US app store. Fantastic. Apparently, people are losing their minds over it because they can type a few words and get… videos. Groundbreaking. Like we didn’t have enough garbage clogging up the internet already.
The article drones on about how quickly it hit number one, beating TikTok and Instagram. Big whoop. It’s a free app, for crying out loud! Of course it’s going to climb the charts. Doesn’t mean it’s *good*. It’s just… more content. More noise. More things for me to filter out when I’m trying to actually do something useful.
They mention some early adopters are already making “high-quality” stuff, which is probably code for “slightly less terrible than the average TikTok.” And naturally, there’s a whole section about potential copyright issues. Because *of course* there is. Like we needed another legal quagmire thanks to someone’s shiny new toy.
Honestly, I expect this will be followed by a tidal wave of AI-generated drivel and lawsuits. Just what the world needs. More crap. Less signal. And you want me to summarize it? Seriously?
Speaking of useless things… back in ’98, some idiot tried to convince me that animated GIFs were “the future of art.” I nearly bricked his workstation just for the principle of the thing. This Sora nonsense feels like a slightly more sophisticated version of *that*.
