Discord discloses data breach after hackers steal support tickets

Discord Got Pwned, Again. Seriously?

Oh Joy, Another Data Breach: Discord Support Tickets Leaked

Right, listen up you lot. Apparently, Discord – yeah, the chat app your teenagers are probably using to plan… whatever it is they do – got their support ticket data nicked by some hackers. Not a full account breach, thankfully (though don’t hold your breath), but enough information was stolen from their Zendesk instance to potentially cause headaches for users who contacted support. We’re talking email addresses, usernames, and possibly even phone numbers if you were stupid enough to give them that.

They claim it wasn’t a Discord system hack directly, but some dodgy third-party access. Convenient, isn’t it? Like blaming the plumber when your pipes burst because *you* left the tap running. They’ve reset API keys and are “investigating” – which is corporate speak for “trying to figure out how badly we screwed up.”

If you used Discord support, change your passwords on other sites too, just in case. And seriously, stop giving companies your phone number unless absolutely necessary. It’s never a good idea. They’re already compromised enough data as it is.

Honestly, the whole thing reeks of basic security negligence. I swear, these companies are just *asking* for trouble.

Speaking of support tickets, I once had a user submit a ticket asking how to turn on their computer. A *literal* request for instructions on pressing the power button. I almost deleted the entire server just out of spite. Don’t be that user.
