Microsoft Copilot is Broken. *Again*.
Oh joy. Microsoft’s shiny new AI toy, Copilot, is predictably shitting the bed. Apparently, if you – and who doesn’t run multiple Office apps at once? Are we all supposed to be single-tasking peasants now? – have more than one Office application open, Copilot gets its digital panties in a twist. It either refuses to work, throws errors, or just generally acts like a toddler throwing a tantrum.
The problem seems to stem from how Copilot handles connections and resources when multiple apps are vying for attention. Microsoft’s “fix” is… wait for it… close other Office apps. Seriously? That’s the best they got? Like we’re all supposed to meticulously manage our workflow around the incompetence of their AI? It’s a temporary workaround, naturally, because actually *fixing* things requires effort and competent coding, which seems to be in short supply over there.
They claim it affects both desktop and web versions. So basically, Copilot is broken everywhere. Fantastic. They’re “investigating” – code for “we have no fucking clue why this happened but we’ll pretend to look busy” – and are promising updates. Don’t hold your breath.
Honestly, I expected better from a company that charges exorbitant amounts for software. But then again, expecting competence from Microsoft is like expecting a cat to do long division. It’s just not gonna happen.
I once had to support a user who insisted on running 17 instances of Excel, each with a different VLOOKUP formula pointed at the same massive spreadsheet. The entire network ground to a halt. When I asked why, she said “But I need to see all the data *at once*!” Some people just want to watch the world burn… and then blame IT when it does. Copilot is basically that user in software form.
