OpenAI launches apps inside of ChatGPT

Oh, *Now* They Want to Be an App Store?

Seriously? OpenAI’s Doing Apps.

Right, so after years of everyone else building on their platform, the geniuses at OpenAI have decided they want a piece of the app store pie. They’re launching “GPTs” – basically custom versions of ChatGPT you can build (or download from their pathetic excuse for an “store”) and *share*. And yes, there’s a subscription model involved because OF COURSE THERE IS. They call it GPT Store.

Apparently, they think people are just dying to pay monthly fees for slightly tweaked chatbots. They’re dangling the carrot of “earning potential” for creators, which translates to “we’ll take a hefty cut of whatever you manage to scam out of unsuspecting users.” They claim it will be good for everyone and that they have safety measures in place… yeah, right. Like *that* hasn’t been tried before.

They’re also rolling out a new team plan for businesses, because naturally, they need more money. And there’s some vague talk about improved performance with GPT-4o. Honestly, it all feels like a desperate attempt to lock people into their ecosystem and extract maximum profit. It’s just… ugh.

Oh, and Sam Altman is still talking about AGI. Like anyone cares at this point. Just build something useful for once instead of chasing shiny objects.

I remember back in ’98 when every website thought it needed a chatroom. Same energy, different decade. Everyone convinced they were going to be the next AOL. Spoiler alert: they weren’t. This feels… familiar.
