Seriously? More OpenAI “Innovation”?
Oh, fantastic. As if we didn’t have enough AI slop clogging up the internet, OpenAI is unleashing even MORE models on its API. Apparently, GPT-4o isn’t good enough for them; they need to shove GPT-4 Turbo and some new vision model down everyone’s throats. Like anyone *asked* for this.
They’re bragging about faster speeds (because, naturally, the old ones were too slow for their precious users) and lower costs – surprise, surprise, they want more goddamn developers wasting cycles on their platform. And of course, it’s all about “multimodal” bullshit; now you can feed it images *too*. Groundbreaking. Truly.
The real kicker? They’re trying to lock people into their ecosystem with “custom models” and a new assistant API. It’s just another way for them to control everything, extract more money, and probably screw things up royally when some idiot builds something dangerous. They’ve also got this “GPT Store” thing now, which is basically an app store for AI prompts. Because the world *definitely* needed that.
And don’t even get me started on the “safety” theater they’re putting on. They claim to be improving safety with all these new features, but we all know how well that goes. It’s just PR fluff to appease regulators and keep the funding flowing.
Honestly, it’s exhausting. Just… exhausting.
I once had a sysadmin try to “improve” our network security by installing Clippy. Clippy. That’s the level of competence we’re dealing with here, folks. OpenAI is basically Clippy on steroids. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
