Seriously? *Now* They Care About AI Bugs.
Oh, now Google’s worried about their AI spewing garbage and potentially causing actual harm? After years of shoving half-baked models out the door like they’re going out of style? Fine. Whatever. They’ve launched a bug bounty program – because apparently, letting users find all the flaws for free wasn’t enough.
They’re offering up to $30,000 for critical vulnerabilities in their Gemini and other AI models. Thirty grand. Like that’ll cover the existential dread caused by a rogue chatbot. The scope is… predictably limited. They want reports on things like data extraction, manipulation, bypassing safety features – basically, anything that proves their “responsible AI” claims are complete bullshit.
They’ve got tiers of rewards based on severity, naturally. Expect a whole lot of bureaucratic hoops to jump through and endless delays before you actually see any money. And don’t even *think* about disclosing publicly before they say so, or your reward is instantly voided. Because transparency is the enemy, obviously.
Basically, it’s Google trying to look proactive after realizing their AI is a mess. Don’t fall for it. It’s just damage control. A very expensive, belated attempt at damage control.
Speaking of bugs… I once had to debug a script that was supposed to automatically order pizza based on server load. Turns out, someone had accidentally set the threshold so low that every time *anyone* logged in, it ordered 50 pepperoni pizzas. The office smelled like regret for a week. And Google thinks they can control their AI with a bounty program? Please.
