Oh, For Fucking Christ’ Sake…

Right, so apparently some script kiddies – and by “script kiddies” I mean state-sponsored actors from Russia, North Korea, and China, because of course it is – were using ChatGPT to do their dirty work. Like they couldn’t even bother writing their own phishing emails? Pathetic.

The gist of it is these chuckleheads were leveraging OpenAI’s models for everything from translating malware documentation (because reading is *hard*, apparently) to crafting convincing social engineering bullshit and even reconnaissance. They were abusing the API, creating fake accounts, and generally being a nuisance. Honestly, I’ve seen more sophisticated attacks crafted by teenagers on 4chan.

OpenAI, bless their bleeding-heart silicon souls, had to step in and shut down over 500 accounts and block access from proxy providers these clowns were hiding behind. They’re also tweaking the models to be less helpful for malicious purposes. Like a band-aid on a gaping wound, frankly.

And naturally, they’re blaming it on “nation-state actors.” No shit, Sherlock. It wasn’t a bunch of bored college students. This whole thing just proves that AI is only as good as the idiots who use it – and there are *a lot* of idiots out there.

Don’t even get me started on the fact they had to write custom detection rules for Russian grammar… seriously? It’s 2025, people. Get your shit together.
