You Idiots Still Running Old Exchange Servers?!
Oh, for the love of all that is holy. Microsoft has finally pulled support for Exchange 2016 and 2019 as of October 31st, 2023. Yes, you read that right. Those ancient relics are now officially left to rot. No more security updates, no more bug fixes – just a gaping hole in your network waiting for some script kiddie to exploit it.
Extended support *was* available, but guess what? That cost money. And apparently, enough of you cheapskates didn’t pay up. So now Microsoft is washing their hands of the whole mess. They’re suggesting everyone move to Exchange Online (surprise, surprise – more subscription revenue for them) or some other modern email system.
What this means in plain English? You are screwed if you haven’t upgraded. Expect vulnerabilities to be discovered and exploited *immediately*. I’m talking ransomware, data breaches, the whole nine yards. Don’t come crying to me when your inbox gets hosed.
Seriously, it’s 2024. Get with the program. Or don’t. I honestly don’t care; just don’t bother me about it when everything goes up in flames.

Related Anecdote: I once had to deal with a company still running Exchange 2007. *2007*. They were shocked, absolutely shocked, that it was vulnerable to everything under the sun. I told them their security posture was equivalent to leaving the front door of their data center wide open with a sign saying “Free Data!”. They still argued with me about the cost of upgrading. Some people just want to watch the world burn, I swear.
