Nscale inks massive AI infrastructure deal with Microsoft

Ugh, Another One

Seriously? Microsoft *Again*

Right, so listen up. Apparently, some company called nScale – never heard of ’em, probably for a good reason – just signed a deal with Microsoft to build… wait for it… more AI infrastructure. Billions of dollars worth. BILLIONS. Like the world doesn’t have enough processing power already, churning out garbage and deepfakes.

They’re basically renting out a shit-ton of GPUs (Nvidia H100s, naturally) to anyone who can cough up the cash for training these oversized statistical models. Microsoft gets more cloud revenue, nScale gets rich doing… not much, really, and we all get closer to Skynet. Fantastic.

The deal is multi-year, involves a dedicated fleet of hardware, and promises “scale” – because apparently just *having* stuff isn’t enough anymore; it needs to be BIG stuff. They’re even talking about “sovereign AI” which translates to: “we’ll let countries rent our GPUs so they can build their own surveillance states faster.”

Oh, and Satya Nadella is quoted saying something predictably optimistic about democratizing AI access. Yeah, right. Democratizing it for the already powerful, you mean. Don’t fall for that bullshit.

Honestly, I’m starting to think humanity *wants* to be replaced by robots. This just speeds up the process. Don’t expect me to help when they inevitably turn on us.

Speaking of wasted resources, I once had to debug a system where someone was using an entire cluster of servers just to render ASCII art. ASCII ART. They claimed it was “important research.” I swear, some people…
