Microsoft lifts more safeguard holds blocking Windows 11 updates

Microsoft’s Windows 11 Update Clusterfuck – A Summary (Because You Apparently Can’t Read)

Seriously? More Windows 11 Bullshit.

Right, listen up, you lot. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom – and by ‘wisdom’, I mean staggering incompetence – are *finally* lifting some of the “safeguard holds” they slapped on Windows 11 updates. Apparently, enough people complained about things breaking after installing their latest mess that they had to admit something was wrong. Shocking.

These holds were blocking updates for CPUs (mostly older Intel ones, naturally) and some other hardware configurations because, surprise surprise, Windows 11 doesn’t play nicely with everything. They’re removing the blocks in stages, meaning it’s not a fix-all, just a slow drip of “maybe this won’t brick your system” releases. They claim it’s based on data showing fewer issues… which I guarantee is them selectively ignoring all the forum posts about exploding hard drives and blue screens.

Basically, if you were stuck waiting for an update because Microsoft thought your hardware was too fragile for their garbage OS, you *might* get it now. Don’t expect miracles though. It’s still Windows 11. And don’t come crying to me when it all goes sideways.

Oh, and they’re pushing this through with the usual vague “improve update experience” nonsense. Like we believe *that*.

Speaking of updates causing problems, I once had to remotely rebuild a server farm at 3 AM because someone – and I use that term loosely – decided to apply a critical patch without testing it. Three *hundred* virtual machines. Three hundred. The coffee budget for that week was astronomical. And the screaming… oh, the screaming from the sysadmins. Good times. Don’t be that person.
