Equity Live: From $300M seed rounds to data center builds, AI is feeling bubbly

AI’s Ridiculous Gold Rush – or How Everyone Lost Their Damn Minds

Oh great, another episode of “AI is saving the world while burning all the cash we can find.” Those fine folks over at TechCrunch’s Equity podcast decided to remind us that the tech world’s collective sanity has officially packed up and buggered off. They’re jabbering on about the latest pile of unhinged fundraising — yeah, you heard that right, $300 bloody million seed rounds — because apparently throwing a mountain of money at a “pre-product AI dream” is the new national pastime.

Then there’s the whole “we’re building data centers big enough to power a small moon” thing. Everyone’s acting shocked that keeping these AI monster models online costs a metric fuck-ton in electricity. Who could’ve guessed that trying to make a robot poet in the cloud might come with a power bill that makes nuclear plants look frugal? Bloody geniuses, the lot of them.

Of course, the podcast hosts get all giddy about the growth — capital, scaling, valuations — all the usual buzzword vomit. Meanwhile, investors are high on their own Silicon Valley fumes, pretending the bubble isn’t about to pop. Seriously, they’re celebrating like it’s the second coming of crypto, but it’s the same old bullshit in a shiny AI wrapper. Oh, and data infrastructure companies? They’re raking it in like the bastards who started selling shovels during the gold rush. Lovely.

In short, if you want to watch humans sprint toward another tech-induced reality check while lighting stacks of VC cash on fire, congratulations — you’re living in the golden age of AI exuberant idiocy. Pass the popcorn, it’s going to be a glorious crash.

Once had a manager who told me “AI will replace you one day.” So I replaced his admin password with “ILoveChatbots” and watched him lock himself out of every system for a week. Results? About the same productivity as any AI deployment to date.
