Two So-Called “Cybersecurity Experts” Get Their Dumb Asses Indicted for Playing Both Sides of the Fence
Oh, this one’s a bloody masterpiece of idiocy. Two US cybersecurity “professionals” – and I use that term like a rusty spoon in a gunfight – got their smug faces slapped with indictments for allegedly being involved with the BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware crew. Yeah, you heard that right — the jackasses who were supposed to protect systems decided to moonlight as bloody cyber extortionists. Because who doesn’t love making a quick few million in ransoms when you’re already paid to stop those exact same attacks? Piss-take of the century.
These bright sparks, according to the DOJ, thought they were the smartest bastards in the data center. Turns out, not so much. They used their positions and insider knowledge to deploy ransomware, extort victims, and then had the audacity to “help” them decrypt afterward – for a nice fat fee. It’s like robbing a bank, then offering to help find the stolen cash… for “consulting fees.” Absolute brain-genius stuff.
It gets better. The Feds say they tied the whole stinking mess back to these idiots through crypto transactions, digital breadcrumbs, and because dumb bastards can’t help but leave bragging evidence everywhere. Classic rookie move. Play stupid games, win federal indictments. Now they’re facing years behind bars – and not the fun kind. Guess the only “penetration testing” they’ll be doing next is with metal detectors on the way into prison.
Honestly, it’s almost inspiring… in the same way a dumpster fire behind an IT convention is inspiring. Two blokes who had it made, pissed it all away for crypto crumbs and the illusion of cyber badassery. You can’t fix stupid, but you can definitely indict it.

Reminds me of the time some junior admin tried to “simulate” a ransomware attack on our testing network… and accidentally took out the payroll server. He blamed a “rogue script.” I blamed his sheer lack of brain cells. He’s now in marketing, where harm is only reputational.
