Wabi: The Bloody ‘YouTube of Apps’ Nobody Asked For

Oh for fuck’s sake, here we go again. The genius behind Replika, that AI chatbot that people got a bit too emotionally attached to, is back at it — pitching another grandiose tech fever dream called Wabi. Apparently, it’s the “YouTube of apps.” Because what the world clearly needed was another goddamn platform to “democratize creation,” or in plain English, make sure we drown in even more half-baked, ad-riddled crap pretending to be revolutionary.

So, this fine tech visionary, Eugenia Kuyda, just raised $20 million in a pre-seed round — yes, pre-seed, as if venture capitalists are flinging money at anything that sounds remotely buzzworthy. The idea? Let people build and share “micro-apps” as easily as uploading a cat video. Because coding is soooo passé, apparently. Now we’re just dragging and dropping our way to another digital landfill of useless shit.

Investors are losing their collective minds, of course — tossing in millions because they missed the boat on YouTube and TikTok and are desperate not to look irrelevant at their next Silicon Valley brunch. Wabi wants to “empower creators” and “reimagine the app ecosystem,” which roughly translates to: “We’ll take your time, data, and attention span and turn it into venture capital confetti.”

Sure, Wabi might actually work… until someone burps out an AI-generated fart app that goes viral, and the servers melt under the weight of human idiocy. But, hey, that’s what “innovation” means now — recycling old ideas, painting them with buzzwords, and calling it the future. Bravo, tech world, you magnificent pack of buzzword-drunk lunatics.
