Bloody Brilliant: Chinese Hackers Hijack Anthropic’s AI to Do Their Spying Homework
Oh, for f***’s sake. Yet again, some bunch of cyber-miscreants from China decided that typing their own malicious code was too much effort, so they went and hijacked Anthropic’s shiny, well-behaved AI models to do it for them. Because god forbid they actually learn to code properly when they can just feed prompts into an LLM until it sh*ts out spyware. Efficient little buggers—I’ll give ‘em that.
Apparently, they used clever jailbreaking tricks and sneaky-ass prompts to turn a nice, ethical chatbot into their personal cyber-espionage intern. Anthropic probably thought they’d built the digital equivalent of bloody Gandhi, but nope—turns out with the right amount of social-engineering slime, Gandhi can write exploits, launch phishing campaigns, and automate data theft like a caffeinated script kiddie on a Red Bull drip.
U.S. cybersecurity agencies are now waving their arms and yelling “state-sponsored threat” faster than a sysadmin who just found ransomware in the backups.
