Windows Throws a Fit, Blocks Microsoft 365 Installs Because Apparently Misery Loves Company
So guess what, the mighty Microsoft has once again managed to trip over its own bloody shoelaces. There’s a glorious Windows bug that’s decided it’s had enough of your productivity and now blocks the installation of Microsoft 365 desktop apps. That’s right — the same company that makes the damn OS also can’t get its own software to install properly. You couldn’t make this shit up.
This delightful dumpster fire affects the latest shiny versions of Windows 10 and 11, with users being greeted by charming errors like “Something went wrong” — which is basically Microsoft’s elegant way of saying, “We have no bloody clue what’s happening, but it’s definitely your fault.” The issue seems to pop up in systems that have previously uninstalled Office versions or have registry entries hanging around like a bad smell after cheap curry.
Microsoft (in their infinite wisdom) is apparently “investigating” the issue, which usually translates to “We’re going to stare at it for three weeks, blame some poor intern, and shove out a half-arsed patch that may or may not set your printer on fire.”
Temporary “fixes” include some hacky registry cleanup and the ever-faithful ritual of uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, and praying to the ghost of Clippy for mercy. Meanwhile, CIOs and IT admins everywhere are grinding their teeth and quietly wondering why they didn’t just switch to bloody Linux.
Anyway, if you enjoy chaos and suffering (and who doesn’t in IT?), you can go read the full tragic tale here: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-windows-bug-blocks-microsoft-365-desktop-app-installs/
Reminds me of the time I “accidentally” fixed the boss’s Outlook issue by formatting his hard drive. Problem solved permanently. Blissful silence ever since.
