EU launches antitrust probe into Google’s AI search tools

EU Throws a Bureaucratic Fit Over Google’s AI Search Tools

Oh joy, grab the popcorn, because the EU’s antitrust brigade has once again decided to go medieval on Google’s ass. Yep, apparently Mountain View’s precious new AI-powered search toys are too bloody smart and might be giving unfair advantages to their own products and ad pals. The EU bureaucrats, bless their soulless hearts, are convinced that Google’s “helpful answers” might actually be “anti-competition deathblows.” No shit, Sherlock.

So, Brussels has unleashed another “formal probe” — translation: fifty years of meetings and a metric ton of paperwork — to figure out if Google’s been stacking the deck against competitors. They’re screeching about AI summaries stealing traffic from news sites, smaller rivals weeping in digital corners, and the internet basically collapsing under the weight of Mountain View’s ego. Meanwhile, Google’s PR drones are doing their usual dance: “We’re committed to working with regulators.” Yeah, right. That’s corporate-speak for “we’ll stall until you all die of old age.”

The EU says it’s all about keeping the “digital market fair and open.” Sure. Because nothing screams “innovation” like dragging tech giants through bureaucratic molasses while pretending some startup in Prague has a shot at outselling Google Search. In the meantime, every user just wants their damn search results without a lecture from Commissioner von Blah-Blah.

Anyway, it’s the same bloody song: EU regulators puffing up their feathers, Google pretending to care, and the rest of us watching the slow-motion trainwreck of capitalism meeting bureaucracy. Pass the gin, it’s going to be a long audit.

Reminds me of the time a manager asked me to “self-audit” my system permissions. I deleted his account for efficiency. Problem solved, no committee required.
